Southern Cross Cardiovascular Services Telehealth

Southern Cross Cardiovascular is now offering Telehealth to eligible patients, in light of the current COVID 19 (Corona virus) pandemic situation. Eligible patients can now book a telehealth (Either Video link through Skype or Zoom or telephone consult). Eligible patients need to meet the current MBS criteria for Telehealth consultation. Please contact our friendly staff on 03 85826965 for further information. These consultations will be bulk billed as per the current MBS guidelines.

COVID-19 – MBS TELEHEALTH ITEMS for Specialists

Bulk-billed telephone and video-conference consultation services, which can be provided by consultant physicians for certain vulnerable people.

Vulnerable or isolated patients are those where at least one of the following apply:

a. at least 70 years old; or
b. at least 50 years old and is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; or
c. is pregnant; or
d. is a parent of a child under 12 months; or
e. is already under treatment for chronic health conditions or is immune compromised; or
f. the person meets the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection.

(a) the attendance is where:
(i) the person is a patient at risk of COVID-19 virus; or
(ii) the consultant physician is a health professional at risk of COVID-19 virus; and
(b) the attendance follows referral of the patient to the specialist; and
(c) the attendance was of more than 5 minutes in duration; and
(d) the patient is not an admitted patient; and
(e) the service is bulk-billed.
Where the attendance was other than a second or subsequent attendance as part of a single course of treatment.
